On June 2, the first consignment of 1.06 lakh doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh. These vaccine doses have been brought to Bangladesh as part of the global vaccine initiative #COVAX. No nation can act alone against a global pandemic. Norway has taken on a leading role in what is currently one of the world’s most important tasks; ensure fair and equal global access to vaccines, medicines, and tests in the fight against #Covid-19.The #COVAX Facility is a part of the #ACTAccelerator global vaccine cooperation, which is co-chaired by Norway and South Africa. COVAX was established in 2020 to ensure equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines and is a cooperative effort between Gavi, WHO and CEPI. Norway participates in COVAX by supporting COVAX AMC (Advance Market Commitment) and was one of the first countries to contribute to COVAX AMC.With the aim to make COVID vaccines available for low-income and lower-middle-income countries, COVAX has so far shipped over 77 million Covid-19 vaccines to 127 participants. Because no country is safe until every country is safe.
